Award winning wildlife attraction expands with a new location, just four miles from the centre of Carmarthen

The British Bird of Prey Centre has a new nest in Idole.

The British Bird of Prey Centre will officially open a new site in Idole, Carmarthen, in October 2025. This new location will allow people to get closer to native birds, providing education and thrilling experiences through conservation focused encounters.

Building on the success of their centre at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, business Directors Emma and Alex have secured a new location designed to welcome even more visitors. This all-weather site features an indoor flying arena, an interactive activity centre, a café offering homemade and locally sourced produce and a play area. The new space is situated in a convenient location just four miles from Carmarthen town centre and is easily accessible by public transport, helping to boost both wildlife conservation efforts and local tourism.

“Bringing the birds to Idole feels like a natural next step for us.” said Director Emma, “Now, even more people will be able to connect with our incredible native birds, including the iconic Red Kite - the National Bird of Wales. Our birds fly free every day and develop their own unique personalities, helping us build an unparalleled connection with each one. Our guests experience that connection for themselves and that’s what makes our experiences truly unforgettable.”

There will be a Crowdfunding campaign launched on Tuesday 24th June to help the centre, meaning the local community and businesses alike can be part of this historic move. Contributions will support the development of the site, further enhance visitor experiences and help expand educational and conservation outreach, ensuring the centre continues to grow as a vital resource for both people and wildlife.

Supporters will also benefit from early release, discounted tickets. For details, please contact info@britishbirdofpreycentre.co.uk
