“No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” — Sir David Attenborough

We’re not just a visitor attraction. We’re a team of people who care deeply about what we do and how we do it.

The British Bird of Prey Centre was built around a simple idea. Wildlife experiences should feel meaningful, welcoming and memorable. Every day families choose to spend their time with us. That’s something we never take for granted.

Whether someone is here for a flying display, a private experience, a coffee in the café or simply a wander around the aviaries, our aim is the same. To give them the best day out we possibly can.

And that takes the right team.

Why Work With Us?

We believe quality matters.

• Quality in how we welcome people
• Quality in how we serve food and drinks
• Quality in how we deliver our experiences
• Quality in how we work together as a team

We are a small, supportive and hardworking group. We value:

• Kindness
• Reliability
• Pride in doing things properly
• Respect for each other
• A genuine commitment to great customer service

There is no big corporate structure here. Just people who care about the centre and about each other.

If you:

• Enjoy working with the public
• Take pride in giving guests a brilliant experience
• Like being part of a team that pulls together
• Want to work somewhere a little different
• Appreciate working in a setting connected to nature

…then you will likely feel at home here.

Welsh language skills are always welcomed and valued.

As we continue to grow, we regularly recruit for roles across visitor welcome, retail, café and operational support. Every role plays a part in creating a day out that families remember long after they leave.

We are building something special here. The people we hire are a huge part of that.

Current vacancies:

Bird of Prey Trainer

Full Time | 8.30am – 5.00pm | 5 days per week (including weekends)
Starting salary: £26,000 per annum

We’re looking for someone easygoing, grounded, and genuinely passionate about birds of prey to join our team at The British Bird of Prey Centre.

We’ve recently opened our new independent site just outside Carmarthen and we’re building something special. It’s a small, easygoing team. We care about doing things properly and we all muck in.

This role would suit someone who:

  • Is calm, steady, and confident around birds

  • Enjoys being part of a close-knit team

  • Is self-motivated and reliable

  • Brings a positive, straightforward approach to their work

  • Has an open mind and is interested in where falconry and bird management are heading

Essential

  • Confident flying a falcon

  • Experience flying eagles

Highly desirable

  • Experience with fish eagles

You’ll be joining a welfare-led centre where our birds fly free daily. We operate a no tethering policy and are continuing to move toward a fully restraint-free approach wherever it is safe and practical to do so. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with that direction and interested in being part of its development.

This is a hands-on role involving flying, training, guest experiences, and day-to-day bird care.

There may be accommodation available if needed — a room in a shared house.

If this sounds like your kind of environment, get in touch and tell us:

  • Your experience (attach a CV)

  • The birds you’ve worked with

  • Why you feel you’d be a good fit for our team

.

Weekend Visitor Welcome Assistants

Shop • Admissions • Ticketing

10am – 5pm
This is a weekend role, with additional hours available during school holidays and special events

National Minimum Wage (age dependent).

We’re looking for a warm, confident team member to join us at the front of house at our new site.

This role is based in our shop and admissions area — the first point of contact for families arriving for a day with the birds. You’ll help set the tone, answer questions, check people in and make sure everyone starts their visit feeling welcome, informed and excited.

For many of our guests, this is a special day out. The welcome really matters.

What you’ll be doing

  • Greeting visitors and checking in bookings

  • Selling tickets, experiences and memberships

  • Handling card and cash payments confidently

  • Answering questions about flying times and the day’s schedule

  • Helping promote handling experiences and special events

  • Keeping the shop tidy, stocked and inviting

  • Supporting the team during busy arrival periods

You don’t need detailed bird knowledge — we’ll teach you that. We’re much more interested in personality, confidence and reliability.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is naturally friendly and comfortable speaking to all ages

  • Takes real pride in customer service

  • Stays calm and organised when it’s busy

  • Has good attention to detail

  • Is dependable and punctual

  • Enjoys working as part of a close-knit team

Retail or visitor attraction experience is helpful, but attitude matters more.

Welsh language skills are a real plus.

Café Assistants

Typical shift: 10.30am – 2.30pm
Flexibility to stay later on busier days

We operate 7 days a week and have multiple roles available. Hours can range from one day a week to several days, depending on availability.

There are more shifts available at weekends and during school holidays and half terms.

National Minimum Wage (age dependent).

Our café is relaxed, welcoming and busy at peak times. We’re looking for friendly, practical people who enjoy being part of a team and take pride in looking after guests properly.

When flying shows finish, everyone heads for coffee at once, so you’ll need to enjoy a bit of pace while keeping standards high.

There are multiple café roles available, depending on how many hours people are looking for.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks

  • Serving light meals and snacks

  • Taking orders and handling payments

  • Keeping the café clean, stocked and organised

  • Following food hygiene and safety standards

  • Supporting the wider team during busy periods

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a warm, approachable manner

  • Genuinely enjoys good customer service

  • Works well under pressure

  • Is organised and tidy in their working style

  • Is flexible if a day runs slightly longer than planned

Food hygiene experience is great but not essential,  training will be provided.

Welsh language skills are a real plus.
