When you arrive at the National Botanic Garden of Wales for your experience you can look forward to flying a range of different species of Birds of Prey and Owls. Other than a little guidance from a qualified falconer, it’s all about you flying the birds yourself.

Whether you are 2 or 92 you can be part of the fun. All of our birds are trained by us so we know they are super friendly.

On the day you will be given special directions through a private entrance into the gardens and an exclusive behind the scenes insight into The British Bird of Prey Centre.

We’ll then give you a glove and introduce you to each bird in turn so you know who you’ll be flying.

You’ll be flying each bird, one after the other, and as it’s your family adventure, you decide how fast and how far you walk.

Your qualified falconer will guide you on your tour around the gardens, whilst the birds are flying free never more than a few metres away. You can call them down to your glove as often as you like, so that you can experience their different styles of flight and get to know their different personalities.

Your experience also includes entrance into The British Bird of Prey Centre so you will be able to meet all of our other birds, see them in their houses and watch our amazing flying displays.

The unique personality of each bird shines through more and more as you spend time with them. You’ll never want to say goodbye.

After you've flown the birds yourself and watched our first display you will be ready for a cup of tea or coffee or a soft drink in the cafe, where you can decide who was your favourite!

Make sure you bring your camera to get as many photos as you can with your new friends.

*We do have a range of other birds available for your experience. If you'd like to fly an eagle we are able to offer this with a non-native species.
